IYCF-E Deployment: 15 January-15 February, 2017
Reason for request:
Recurrent drought and conflict has plagued the East Africa Region for many years. Given the risks these emergencies pose for children’s morbidity and mortality, UNICEF and Save the Children conducted a country-level IYCF-E capacity mapping assessment for South Sudan, Kenya and Somalia. The results of this capacity mapping assessment helped form a regional IYCF Framework for Action to serve as a guideline for all countries.
A Tech RRT Advisor was deployed to facilitate the validation of the outputs from the IYCF-E capacity mapping and framework for action, highlighting common priority areas in the three countries in East Africa and country specific priorities.
Outcome:
- Validation workshops were facilitated in Kenya, Somaliland and South/Central Somalia and South Sudan and workshop reports were completed
- IYCF-E advocacy messages were developed and shared
- The IYCF framework for action was prioritized for each country to serve as a guide for IYCF programming and an executive summary was developed for dissemination
