The Technical Rapid Response Team (Tech RRT) and partners invite you a webinar to present the recently released toolkit for CHW community-based treatment of uncomplicated wasting for children 6-59 months in the context of COVID-19.

The webinar took place on Wednesday 29th July 2020 at 14:00-15:30 Geneva time.

Slides and recording available here.

The webinar will aim to introduce participants to the new toolkit a result of a collaborative effort between UNICEF and partners, including the International Rescue Committee, Action Against Hunger, Save the Children, GOAL, Malaria Consortium, Médecins Sans Frontières and Concern Worldwide.

The objectives of the webinar are as follows:

  • Share the background of CHW-led treatment and advantages of the approach in the context of COVID-19
  • Give key program recommendations for Family MUAC, the simplified treatment approach and CHW-led treatment
  • Introduce participants to the simplified toolkit
  • Provide information on where implementers can find more resources/ support

The toolkit provides a simplified implementation protocol and toolkit to assist implementers in providing treatment for uncomplicated wasting through community health workers (CHWs) in the context of COVID-19.

We hope that this toolkit will be a useful guide to supporting the decentralization and simplification of treatment of wasting and bolstering efforts to bring these much-needed services closer to those in need.

This webinar is a great opportunity to learn more about how this toolkit can improve your programme.

All welcome, so please come along!

  1. How to support CHWS to treat uncomplicated Wasting during COVID19 where CMAM programme does not exist?
In Bangladesh, we do not have any community base wasting prevention/treatment programme. In this context what would be the minimum actions those can be incorporated into regular nutrition programme?

We hope this was answered during the webinar.
